I have been studying the General Conference talk by Jean A. Stevens called "Become as a Little Child". As I've watched my own children, I can see their innocence, curiosity, love, and joy and I understand why we are asked to become as little children. Sister Stevens said "These precious children of God come to us with believing hearts. They are full of faith and receptive to feelings of the Spirit. They exemplify humility, obedience, and love. They are often the first to love and the first to forgive." What wonderful traits to have. If the same could be said of most adults, imagine how much happier our lives might be. I'm also learning that even as adults we don't always know what is best for ourselves, just as little children often can't see past their immediate situation. We truly are like children in the sense that our Heavenly Father knows more than we do, and he will help us become who we need to be even if we can't quite understand it yet. I'm grateful to be serving in the Primary where I get to see and teach and learn from the children, and am continually reminded to "become as a little child". Sister Stevens describes children as "bright spirits who are untarnished by the world - teachable and full of faith." Let us all try to stay untarnished by the world and remain teachable throughout our lives.
